Welcome to Open Daw – Dawlish Community Information Centre
Our current service (updated 8th October 20):
We have a table service for hot drinks and book sales every Tuesday and Thursday morning 10am -12 noon, with indoor and outdoor tables (weather permitting) and social distancing measures in place. Masks must be worn on entry to the building until seated.
We can be contacted for local information and support via firstname.lastname@example.org or 07515 882946. Please do get in touch if you need to.
If you leave a message we will return your call as soon as we can and usually between 10am and 4pm. We can also make face to face appointments on a Wednesday morning for enquiries and assistance.
Please follow us on facebook @opendaw and @helpingdawlish for updates. We have been working with local agencies to support the community, see www.helpingdawlish.co.uk for more information. Join us online for our AGM on 27th October at 7pm.
Our regular service:
Open Daw provides an informal information and advice service for the local community, signposting clients to the agencies and organisations that can help them, and providing regular, free ‘drop in’ facilities for them to meet with various services such as local Councillors, the Royal British Legion, Cancer Support and many more.
We also offer an area in which people can sit in a safe space, get a friendly welcome from our volunteers, buy a low cost hot drink, engage with others and feel supported. On a day to day basis our Coordinators help people to access information online, for example to contact the Council or their energy or benefits providers with queries or issues.
We work with local organisations to display publicity materials for events and groups. Our Coordinators can then signpost clients to activities that might be suitable or helpful for them, such as a Bereavement Support group, Community Transport outings or a women’s social club.
With a friendly welcome we provide a safe haven and friendly place for those who need some company or support. Have a look at the links above for more information…
Why not pop by to see what we do? A warm welcome awaits you and we are dog friendly too!
